Sara’s pronouns are: She/Her

Sara helps clients move through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and the complex emotions of the perinatal period.

Sara Meyerhoeffer, LCSW, PMH-C, is a compassionate and grounded therapist who helps adults work through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and difficult life transitions. Many of her clients come in feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in old patterns—navigating stressors in work, relationships, identity, or self-worth. Sara creates a safe, affirming space to unpack those experiences, reconnect with your values, and build the tools needed to feel more steady and empowered in daily life.

She blends warmth and authenticity with a practical, down-to-earth style—often using humor to make hard conversations feel a little lighter. Her approach draws from trauma-informed care, CBT, EMDR, systems theory, mindfulness, and relational work. You can expect to feel seen, supported, and challenged in a good way—as you gain insight, deepen self-compassion, and move toward real change.

Sara also has specialized training in perinatal mental health and offers support to those navigating pregnancy, postpartum, new parenthood, or loss. She brings particular care to parents of NICU infants and those processing miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, or medically complex pregnancies.

Sara holds a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and certified Perinatal Mental Health Counselor. She shows up as a thoughtful collaborator—equal parts guide, sounding board, and champion for her clients’ growth.

Sara provides in-person therapy at our Richmond-based counseling practice, and online counseling for clients throughout Virginia.
